The Terror Drome

As a boy, we would go over to my mom’s house every other weekend. My parents divorced when I was mad young, so that’s just how my life was growing up. Every other weekend, every other holiday, two weeks in the summer.

The two weeks in the summer was usually the best. For a while, my mom lived with my stepfather in Jacksonville, FL. We’d go down and hit up the beach in their subaru brat. And we’d occasionally get some ill toy.

One year, my brother and I got the GI Joe Terror Drome. Holy shit, this was the motherload of cool toys. It had the ill elevator that could shoot The Firebat out, tons of cool turrets and the ill jail. We spent years of life playing with this toy. Seriously. Lots.

Then we got older, and sold it at a yard sale with the rest of our Joes (those are worthy of a later separate post).

For $20.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

The Millennium Falcon

As youths, my brother and I were big on Star Wars toys. We had a lot of figures, and even a few playsets. Here’s my story about the Millennium Falcon.

We received this one for Christmas one year. It was awesome. You can imagine our excitement at seeing this amazingly large package under the tree. The package was big. Maybe 2′x1′. No joke.

We played with this one like crazy. It had a little bit of everything. The guns, the cockpit, the chill spots in the back. Hell, it even had that secret hideaway spot. We ended up losing that piece a few months into owning it, sadly. And you could snap on the lid and just fly it around. Definite good times.

A few years later, the Falcon was sitting in the basement. My dog, Hawkeye, decided it was a good thing to pee in. Then my dad threw it away. I think it was just a good reason to finally get it out of the basement. Looking back, it was a sad day. At the time, I don’t think we were phased. We had already moved on to baseball cards …

Great toy.
