Smells Like Kurt’s Spirit.

Nirvana is definitely one of my favorite bands from the early 90’s, and more importantly the grunge era. I remember being one of two people in 8th grade that liked Nirvana. At that time everyone was into rap and whatever other music that was popular in the 80’s that was fizzling out. But I had an older friend who was in highschool and he got me turned on to Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, L7 and bunch of other bands. Two years later I would discover Hardcore music but that’s another story maybe one for Tee Till Death. Check them out.
mando760 is selling this awesome 18″ statue(I know its an action figure but I like to refer to this as statue) of Kurt Cobain by Neca Toys. Once again the folks over at NECA have done an awesome job of replicating and immortalizing a celebrity in plastic. I have not seen one of these in the store so I’m not sure how old it is. If I had to guess I would say it has to be within the last two years. Keep up the good work NECA.

Billy Kincaid was a bad, bad man!

Leave it to Todd McFarland to make an action figure of a child murdering ice cream man.

In Spawn issue #5, Kincaid is released from a mental institution, where he had been placed because he was suspected of murdering several children. The most notable of the cases, and the only one Kincaid was actually charged with, was the disappearance and murder of a senator’s daughter. In his previous life as Al Simmons, Spawn had been hired to kill Kincaid, but had arrived just as Kincaid was apprehended by the police and so was unable to complete the mission.

Upon his release from the institution, Kincaid immediately goes back to kidnapping and murdering children by luring them into his ice cream truck. He kills a child before Spawn kills him and hangs his bloody corpse in the precinct office of detectives Sam Burke and Twitch Williams, who had been investigating Kincaid, with the note that says, “Boys screamed and girls screamed. So I made him scream and scream and scream…” Both Sam and Twitch are consequently blamed for the gruesome incident and put on probation, though this is eventually cleared.

This figure was only available mailorder through the McFarland Toys Collectors Club, but it really isnt as rare as it should be based on the subject matter.

Lord Stanleys Cup!

Hockey playoffs are over, but as a Bruin fan for me they have been done for a couple of weeks now. Now we’ve gotta see if Philly or Chicago wins. I think that since Philly beat Boston and the Blackhawks remind me of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, I’m rooting for Chicago, but it doesnt matter that much.

If you win this auction it you can bust out some action figures and anyone you want can win the cup this year. Maybe Leonardo, Donatello & Iron Man, Snake Eyes & Indiana Jones, Optimus Prime & Gene Simmons… the possibilities are endless!

The seller is throwing in a few scale size water bottles & hockey pucks for good measure too!

Gerry Cheese!

Gerry “the Cheese” Cheevers may not have been the greatest NHL goalie of all time, but he is definitly one of the most iconic! Pretty much all hockey fans know the visual and the story behind Gerrys famous goalie mask.

The iconic stitch-pattern goaltender mask came after a puck hit him in the face during practice. Cheevers loved to skip practice so after being hit he went to the locker room. Bruins coach Harry Sinden followed him and found Cheevers enjoying a beer and smoking a cigarette. Coach Sinden told Cheevers, who wasn’t injured, to get back on the ice. In jest, John Forestall, the team trainer, painted a stitch mark on his mask. From that day forward Gerry continued to paint stiches on his mask whenever he was hit in the face.

A friend of mine went to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto and one of the things he hoped to see was the Cheevers mask. After walking though the museum and not seeing it they asked one of the tour guides about the mask. He was told that the mask had been there for awhile, but Mr. Cheevers asked for it back and that his grandson was wearing it to play street hockey. I read that since then they have a replica on display in the Hall of Fame and that the mask hangs on Gerrys grandsons bedroom wall. Thats awesome!!

Here is the McFarland Toys figure of Gerry in his black ‘Home’ jersey…
