Happy Birthday 1989.

Over on Vinyl Noize today, we did a little feature called Flyer Noize. So far, we’ve done two out of three posts on it. In the one that just went up, there was a flyer for a Sick Of It All/Burn show on October first, 1989. Which would have been my 11th birthday. Now, that [...]

G.I. Joe/M.A.S.K. Mash Up.

It should be completely obvious to even the most casual of 80s toy owners that M.A.S.K. was basically G.I. Joe mixed with Transformers, only the Transformers don’t really transform- they just sprouted weapons or mini helicopters. I mean, the bad guys were called V.E.N.O.M. It wasn’t exactly subtle. But it made it really cool when [...]

The Mobile Part of Mobile Armored Strike Command.

Very pleased to see that yeahtoys*07 made with the follow up auction for yesterdays lot of M.A.S.K. drivers, as unless you’re replacing lost or destroyed figures/masks, there’s really no point to a bunch of driver’s with no vehicles. I don’t see the Boulder Hill playset here though; maybe that’s coming this afternoon…

M.A.S.K.ed Men.

The thing about the M.A.S.K. toys was, the drivers and their masks were so small, they were very easily lost or destroyed (say, if you were a kid with a bad habit of chewing on the masks like bubble gum while you were pondering the next chapter in the adventure you were taking Matt Tracker [...]

ECDUB! ECDUB! ECDUB!

Ah, to go back to the days when ECW aired at 3am on the Spanish Channel. Or even just back to the days when they got a prime time slot on Fridays on TNN. That’s when, miracle of miracles, ECW was actually popular enough to justify the making of ACTION FIGURES! grandetrouille96 My college roommate [...]

Screw Swamp Thing…

Who remembers THE TOXIC CRUSADERS~!! mmat_boutique Yes, the Toxic Crusaders. Some executives hair brained scheme to take Troma’s decisively non kiddy friendly Toxic Avenger and turn him into part of a Saturday morning environmentally conscious super hero leading a team of other environmentally conscious superheroes, including a guy whose power was boogers. britathart thanna1974 I [...]

The 4 Horsemen Ride.

WCW was never that great at mass marketing any merch that didn’t have a big nWo on it, but they did occasionally sneak out some decent looking toys, even near the end. Case in point: this 4 Horsemen box set, from the final line up of the group, a line up that for a brief [...]

Who You Gonna Call?

The Real Ghostbusters was probably one of my favorite cartoons as a kid, and it was also one of my favorite toylines. I had tons of ‘em, including one of these babies: Weird thing: seller toykidd has a bunch of the Slimed Heroes line of Real Ghostbusters toys, but he has them labeled as 1984 [...]

Children Are Monsters.

I wish I had been a brighter toddler. I had all of these Remco Universal Monsters back then, along with the Lone Ranger, Tonto, the Dukes of Hazzard and some other fellas (not sure how many of those were Remco, but they all were basically the same type of figure)… ranchomiragelab92270296982 … and they all [...]
